Freshers Week

The first week at University is normally called Freshers Week and will be packed with new places, new activities and new faces.

Outlined below are a few tips to ensure you make the most of Freshers week.

  • There will be lots of activities and events planned. Try and attend as many as you can.
  • You might feel a little overwhelmed by it all. However, please remember that everyone is in the same position and it is a great opportunity to meet people and make friends for life.
  • During the first week, you will be invited to the Fresher’s Fair. Here, there will be lots of stalls trying to sign you up for clubs and socities. Make sure you do sign up for a few as it is a great way to meet people and make friends.


There are several High street banks to choose from when opening a student bank account. They include

  • Lloyds TSB
  • Natwest
  • Royal Bank of Scotland
  • HSBC
  • Barclays


As a student, you will be eligible for numerous discounts. Here is our guide to some of the main ones.

NUS Card

Student Railcard
